John Gamblin. BA, MILM

Quality Manager, Chief Inspector and Safety Officer

John joined the Royal Navy (Fleet Air Arm) in 1959 as an Artificer Apprentice and worked on a variety of aircraft and in workshops until 1983, when he left the RN with the rank of Chief Petty Officer [Electrical Artificer (Air Weapons) 1st Class]. For part of this time he was responsible for the certification of aircraft maintenance and aircraft components. During his Royal Naval service, John represented the Combined Services, Royal Navy, and Hampshire, at shooting, gaining National Rifle Association qualification as a coach.

Prior to joining Cranfield Aerospace Ltd, in August 2002, John was the Accountable Manager, Chief Inspector and Safety Officer for Pandect Instrument Laboratories Ltd, a prestigious aircraft instrument manufacturing, overhaul, and repair company, based in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.

John earned a Technology based Bachelor of Arts degree from the Open University, with credits in Mathematics, Mathematical modelling, Physics, and Electronics, with post-graduate credits in Management and Systems Engineering. He also holds Quality Auditor Certification, FAA Certificate of achievement (FAR 145), NEBOSH certification in Occupational Safety & Health, with additional certification for CAA (Part 21) DOA & POA courses, AS/EN9100 Rev A, and AQAP2110.

Born in Portsmouth, Hampshire, in 1943, he attended Portsmouth Southern Grammar School before joining the Royal Navy.
